Another show to show for!

Well, I'm about 1/2 way through my show season and it's been a mixed bag of tricks. A couple of good shows and a couple of dismal ones. I've added covered crochet hooks to my inventory and so far have save my table costs. This last show, for the first time, not everyone stopped to look at my jewelry. I usually get a lot of lookers and oohs and ahhs but not so much this time. It was a bit discouraging but my skin is tougher because I realized that my pieces are not run of the mill stuff. All my pieces are unique, ooak, and not everyone is into that. That's ok, but they liked my crochet hooks. My pitch for those is that I take a regular crochet hook and turn them into works of art (I'll credit Berit Haynes for the idea). So, now I'm off to make more hooks for my next show. The pic is of my latest creations.

Trying something new

I've been experimenting with pens and crochet hooks this week. No photos yet but they will come later this week. Some friends from pcagoe.com are having success and fun with them so I decided to try them for my craft shows, to see if they will go. I stand in awe of their craftmenship and am inspired to try my own. Stay tuned for the results. But for today, a photo is still in order.

One more show done!

The weekend is over again and I'm gearing up for the next one. This one was better than the last. Here's a photo of a pendant I posted on etsy this morning. I love trees and now that all the leaves are gone, I like looking at this piece. Reminds me that the leaves will come back.

Time for another show!

Gearing up for another show this week-end. I made this set and photographed the process. I can show you the beginning shot and end shot. I think this is neat to see how polymer clay is worked. These are faux lava rocks beads with filigree metal beads. The photo is not that great to show the texture of the lava rock beads. This of course is one of the simpler techniques.

Good morning eveyone!

Just back from a craft show that was a mix of failures and triumphs. The sales were dismal which prompted me to rethink my displays and approach. I did get lovely comments on my work. One lady said that she had worked with polymer clay before and had given it up because she found it too difficult to do. she told me she had never seen anyone make the clay look like I do. Her words warmed my heart even if my pocketbook stayed cold. Just like this little blue bird I made for my mother-in-law a couple of years ago. She loved it.

Hi, I'm back!

Just a little heads up on my life lately. I'm getting ready for 5 week-ends of crafts shows in a row. The season is upon us, now to get in the mind set. Halloween is still in my mind and the photo is of a cutesy piece for that but then on to Christmas and all those sales. Ahh! Please Lord hear my prayer!
