Can We Ever Have Too Much Bling?

The short answer is No! So, when Ironcraft set the challenge theme at Shiny and/or Bling I was all smiley. Don't allow myself too much bling time in my creations so this was a great way to push the challenge envelope.
I've been toying with the idea of making rings. So, I chose to create a ring that said glamour and shiny. One of my favorite stones is malachite. I'm not sure when I first saw malachite but it reminds me so much of the 70's mod fashion. I picture Vogue photos of a model siting on a tiger rug in front of a great blue ocean and her hand dangling off the couch. Then you focus on this big Bulgari ring with a central malachite stone surrounded by diamonds. I know, I'm a romantic at heart, but I'll never admit to that.
So, I tried to recreate that in my own way. Using polymer clay, I created a subtle artistic malachite and encrusted the sides with crystals. I just didn't have enough diamonds on hand to do the stone justice. Darn!
I like my results and am learning about the mechanics of making rings and ring bands. It'll be fun to continue this venture and see if I can make Vogue worthy rings. Never know right! And if you're going to dream, dream big!
